Da Nang Rainy Day With Kids

Dragon Bridge in Da Nang on a bright day, symbol of the city and popular spot for families exploring Vietnam

When you think of Da Nang, it’s the miles of golden coastline and some of the world’s most breathtaking sunrises that spring to mind. But as with any trip, one thing you can’t control is the weather. So what happens if your beach holiday with the kids is hit by rolling storms or a string of grey skies? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with plenty of rainy-day activities that will keep the whole family entertained.

Art in Paradise 3D Museum

Let’s be honest, it’s 2025, and can you even call it a day out if you don’t get at least one Instagrammable shot to share with the world? Art in Paradise 3D Museum is packed with them. Every wall is covered in clever optical illusions and hand-painted backdrops that make for picture perfect moments. Some of the art is genuinely impressive on its own, but the real fun comes from jumping into the scenes. If you have little posers in the family, this is their stage: silly, creative, and guaranteed to fill your camera roll. Leave your cringe at the door and settle in for a day of pulling ridiculous poses. You might just walk away with the next profile picture.

Surf’s up at Art in Paradise Da Nang – the kids (and big kids) will love striking poses in these 3D illusions.

Location: Art in Paradise Danang, 1 Trần Nhân Tông, Thọ Quang, Sơn Trà, Đà Nẵng

Tip: Go early to avoid photo queues and wear light colours so you stand out in the pictures.

Helio Centre

From the outside, Helio Center doesn’t look that inviting. The building feels a bit industrial, with a sun-faded sign that makes it easy to overlook. We were in the area and almost missed it completely. Inside though, it’s a different story: a lively amusement centre with arcades, a cinema, bowling, and even a night market-style food court. It’s popular with both locals and tourists, especially in the evenings. One word of warning: like the downtown theme park (which is a 10 minute walk from here), Helio doesn’t really get going until later in the day. Doors might open at 3pm, but most activities don’t start until around 5pm, so that’s the best time to arrive.

Location: Helio Centre, 2/9 Street, near Asia Park and downtown Da Nang.

Tickets: Not necessary — entry is free, and you just pay for whatever activities you choose inside (arcades, bowling, cinema, rides).

Tip: There’s plenty of great local food inside the night market area, but if your kids are anything like mine, you’ll be pleased to know there’s a McDonald’s just across the road.

Minions Kids Play Area – Da Nang

We actually stumbled across this place by accident after showing up way too early at the nearby Da Nang Downtown Theme Park. The rides there don’t start until 4.15pm, and we found ourselves wandering around at 1pm with two hyped-up kids desperate for fun. Instead of taking a Grab back to the hotel, we decided to walk the side streets and see what we found. It turned out to be a brilliant call.

What we discovered was like an oasis in the desert: a soft play centre with unlimited playtime once you’ve paid entry, a café where parents can relax with coffee, and CCTV screens covering the whole play zone so you can actually keep an eye on the kids without constantly getting up. I’ve never seen that before in a soft play, and it’s a game changer.

The downstairs is all action with slides, ball pits, and a plastic sand zone, while upstairs has extra playrooms, books, and quieter corners for smaller children. It’s not huge, but it’s clean, safe, and exactly what you need when the weather turns or when plans fall through.

Tip: Perfect if you arrive too early for Asia Park or Downtown Theme Park. Kids can play while you relax with a coffee and keep an eye on them on the café’s CCTV screens.

Mixed Indoor/Outdoor Options

Great if the weather isn’t a full write-off and you want flexibility. When the skies open, you’ve got cover; when it clears, you can move outside.

Ba Na Hills

So this is it, the big one. You can’t come to Da Nang and not visit Ba Na Hills. You know those giant golden stone hands holding up a walkway you’ve seen everywhere? Every bar or restaurant seems to have a mini version or a painting of it on the wall. And if you’ve been scrolling Instagram reels, you’ve definitely seen it. Well, this is the original.

The cable car ride and the Golden Bridge itself are weather-dependent, but don’t worry – most of the attractions are under cover. That makes Ba Na Hills the perfect activity for a mixed-weather day. When the sun breaks through, dash out to the bridge and get your photos. When the clouds roll back in, head indoors to the three floors of arcades, 4D cinema, Dino Park, wax museum, indoor gardens, and even an indoor roller coaster. There’s heaps to do, and the kids will love it.

Location: Ba Na Hills, An Sơn, Hòa Ninh, Hòa Vang, Da Nang

Tickets: Book your tickets here.

Tip: Go early if the forecast looks mixed. Splash out for the cut the line tickets on the cable car. Its not that much more and the ques can be very long.

Mikazuki Water Park 365

I know, I know. This is a rainy-day guide and here I am recommending a water park. But hold on. Mikazuki Water Park 365 is different. Unlike the indoor “Water Space Inn” we tried in Taiwan, which was good value but gave off a slightly grubby first impression, this place feels polished from the moment you step inside.

Colourful slides and dragon-themed pools make Mikazuki Water Park a great rainy-day escape in Da Nang

The indoor zone is seriously impressive: heated pools, water slides, a kids’ splash area, plus Japanese-style onsen baths, saunas, and spa facilities. It is a fantastic spot to kick back and unwind. Draw straws, one parent can hit the slides with the kids while the other relaxes in the sauna.

It is just as much fun for adults as it is for kids. And if the weather clears, the outdoor section is a bonus with wave pools, big slides, landscaped Japanese gardens, and even access to the beachfront resort.

Location: Mikazuki Water Park 365, 01 Nguyễn Tất Thành, Hòa Hiệp Nam, Liên Chiểu, Đà Nẵng

Tickets: My advice, splurge for the tickets that come with food included. Saves having to mess around on the day getting wallet back out from the lockers. Book your tickets here now.

Tip: The larger (better slides) have a 1.2M metre minimum aswell as a 40kg minimum weight requirement.
